What Causes Cellulite
The majority of the population of adult women have at least some cellulite on their bodies, even the richest, most beautiful and glamorous celebrities that we know and love have their fair share of cellulite, so...
What causes cellulite?
Basically cellulite is fat that is stored just under the skins surface that has become clumped together in small groups of fat cells as opposed to single fat cells.
So if it's fat under the skin how come everywhere isn't covered in cellulite?
When women are younger their skin is more elastic and pliable but as they age they store more fat which pushes out against the skin which also becomes less elastic and more rigid.
Yo-yo dieting can be one of the most common factors for what causes cellulite as relatively quick increases and then decreases in fat levels place a huge challenge on the skins elasticity which can give the appearance of cellulite a further hit.
Experts suggest what causes cellulite may be a change in hormone levels, such as increase in the production of estrogen, insulin, prolactin or adrenaline amongst others, so times of stress, over eating, pregnancy, yo-yo dieting may all lead to an increased production of these hormones.
Hereditary reasons can be what causes cellulite in certain individuals as there may a particular gene present in all generations.
There are other predisposing factors as to why you may suffer from the problem such as your gender, your ethnicity, the percentage of body fat you have (the more you store, the worse it will be) or simply poor circulation caused by inactivity or a sedentary lifestyle.
Lastly and probably not the real cause but could possibly be a factor which is that of wearing tight clothing that reduces circulation to the affected areas, thereby leading to a build of toxins and increased storage of fat in the cells.
But worry not, it is certainly possible to reduce the appearance of cellulite by lowering the amount of body fat you store.
A good diet can help you in two ways. Firstly it will help you to lose weight thereby lessening the pressure of the fat in the cells against the skin and secondly it can help to improve the condition and elasticity of the skin which will give you a much smoother look.
Exercise also helps to reduce cellulite because you are reducing the amount of fat you have stored in the cells and exercise also improves the circulation to the affected areas as well as helping to transport and remove toxins and waste products through the blood stream to the liver and kidneys.
Reducing the amount of stress you have in your life may also help because stress can lead to an increased production of hormones such as adrenaline and catecholamine which have been shown to increase the occurrence of cellulite
Really the only way to stop what causes cellulite and reduce the amount of cellulite you have is to exercise regularly, eat well, stay active and relax whenever possible.
