What Is Cellulite
What is cellulite? - Cellulite, is really just body fat that has formed in to groups of cells instead of in single cell status which is what makes the skin usually appear to have s smooth appearance of normal skin. If you want the official description, it is a subcutaneous layer of body fat, which lies just beneath the skin.
It is caused when the natural elasticity of the skin begins to diminish when it has been subjected to sun, nicotine or simply through a loss of oestrogen as we age.
Cellulite can be found in both women and men and although can appear in many areas of the body it is more usually found in the thigh and buttock areas.
Now we know exactly what is cellulite, let's look in a little more detail as to how we can eliminate it.
What Is Cellulite Reduction?
What do all the top celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears, Geri Helliwell or Halle Berry have in common? They all look great. Despite what you might think most top celebrities stay in great shape through good diet and a regular training plan, usually overseen by a personal trainer. Consistency of habit is what will get you the body you have always dreamed of. Realistic aspirations and a time framed plan will all guarantee you to eventually get what you want. So here are my 5 top cellulite-busting tips: -
1. Detox – This is almost like a short term fast, which will rid your body of all the toxins building up inside it. There are many detox diets around these days but you can create your own. Basically you should avoid alcohol, caffeine, red meats, dairy produce and wheat. This will leave you snacking on fresh fruits, vegetables, white meats, gluten free and Soya based alternatives, which these days can be superb alternatives. You should follow a standard detox for about 4 weeks. Be careful when you resume eating normally again you should still eat a healthy, wholesome diet or all your hard work will be in vain.
2. Drink plenty of water – Water will cleanse the digestive system. Drinking two to three litres of water a day helps flush out the toxins produced by your body as it burns fat. Experts recommend at least 2 litres per day.
3. Get regular exercise – you should aim to do some form of activity each day for 20 – 60 minutes, which leaves you sweaty, and slightly out of breathe. Running, walking or cycling are great for cellulite busting, just don’t forget you wont notice a difference in a week, be consistent. Our most successful clients are those who attend every session and never miss, they always reap the rewards of there efforts.
4. Eat well and prosper - Following a healthy diet can help you lose weight and, as a result, reduce cellulite. I recommend that you have 5 or 6 smaller meals each day instead of the standard approach of three more substantial ones.
Be sure to include as varied amount of fresh and natural foods as possible, with only a small amount of low-fat protein and non-starchy carbohydrates such as green veggies and whole-wheat grains and pulses etc. These kinds of foods are digested more slowly by the body, providing a constant supply of energy.
Cut down on your alcohol and caffeine – If you want to reduce the appearance of cellulite then you’ve got to clean up your act. Excess alcohol, tea, coffee and smoking have no place in a healthy diet. You should treat yourself every so often, just don’t use these all the time.
5. Get a good massage and get plenty of sleep – Massage can actually break down those cellulite globules, leaving a much smoother appearance to the skin. Although this will only reduce the effect of cellulite temporarily and is not addressing the real route cause, it can have a positive effect as the very nature of massage means you get to relax deeply and pamper yourself.
What Is Cellulite Treatment?
Are there any alternatives?
Ah yes, you could get it sucked out via liposuction, but you would need to get this done every couple of years. This treatment costs thousands and doesn’t actually solve the cause of cellulite, which is poor diet, and lack of exercise and liposuction is definitely not a permanent solution.
Creams or wraps may increase blood flow to the cellulite-ridden areas and help break up the fat, but it won't get rid of it.
So, is there a secret way to reduce the unsightly effects of cellulite, or do you have to live with it? Sorry folks at the moment there is no magic pill or potion you can get to eradicate cellulite
What Is Cellulite Elimination and can it really work?
Ultimately, reducing or eliminating cellulite altogether involves taking moderate and regular exercise combined with sensible nutrition and getting adequate rest.
A healthy lifestyle change and not just a one-off attempt at a diet is what is needed. But while most people want to reach their aesthetic best, the most important thing to focus on is good health and ultimately accepting your body the way it is.
